Family Violence (PSYN 295) Final Paper
Family Violence (PSYN 295) Final Paper Please read this statement on CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM   Cheating and plagiarism are contrary to the purpose of any educational institution and must be dealt with most severely if students’ work is to have any validity. An instructor who determines that a student has cheated on a test or assignment will at a minimum give a zero for that item and the student will be failed for this course. Normally the matter is dealt with by the instructor and the student, but he division chairperson or Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs may be consulted by either party to ensure fairness.   Plagiarism which is the appropriation of words or ideas of another without recognition of the source is another form of cheating. An instructor who determines that a student has plagiarized will give a zero for the paper or project. You will also be failed for this course.   Both cheating and plagiarism are grounds for dismissal form the College.   Any action taken regarding cheating or plagiarism is subject to the Academic Grievance Policy outlined in the Student Handbook.   As passed by the Faculty Senate, March 2002:   COLLEGE PROCEDURES FOR DEALING WITH INCIDENTS OF CHEATING AND/OR PLAGIARISM   In each case in which a punitive action is taken by an instructor due to evidence of cheating and/or plagiarism the following process should be followed:   A confidential record of the action, (zero in the assignment/test or failure in the course), shall be given to the student and maintained by the instructor and a copy forwarded to the appropriate Program Director. The Program Director will then send copies to the Division Chair and to the Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs or the Dean for Graduate Studies.   2. When the Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs notes repeated incidents by a student, the Assistant Provost shall call for a meeting of the Academic Grievance Committee to consider disciplinary action.     Paper Instructions For the paper, you will need to choose an area of family violence that you are interested in learning more about. The paper is 5-7 pages long and works should be referenced in APA style at the end of the paper (i.e., you need a reference page). Please answer both questions below in the paper: Part 1. Discuss the prevalence and incidence rates of abuse in your chosen area of family violence. Comment on and pay particular attention to the characteristics of victims and perpetrators, the causes of this particular form of abuse, and any qualities that set your chosen form of family violence apart from the others. And then…. Part 2. Discuss an intervention or prevention program you would create to end the form of family violence you have chosen for your paper. Discuss the methodologies you would use. This will tell me what it is you are writing about, and also highlight your specific focus. The first paragraph or introduction is important. It can be conventional or creative, but through the first paragraph, you should be introducing the problem on which you are going to focus. The general rule is: one paragraph, one idea. This means that in each paragraph you should make one central point. This point should be explained, illustrated or developed in this paragraph. Rather too many paragraphs than too few. A conclusion is an essential and extremely important part of any paper. In your concluding paragraph(s) you should summarize your observations and arguments, point out the developments in your argument, and share a general conclusion with your reader. Make sure your paper has a reference page and you paste in at the end or attach on upload the abstracts of the 2 scholarly articles to the paper. Style Please check your grammar. Make sure that your formulations are clear and precise. Avoid run on sentences. It often helps to use shorter sentences, making sure each sentence conveys a single point clearly. If grammar is not your strong suit, having someone read your paper over ahead of time will help. You can also use Grammarly to check the paper (www.grammarly.com). Spell check. Spelling mistakes and typing errors distract the reader and create an impression of carelessness. Please proofread your papers carefully. Spell check does not catch every thin.
